HILTON GARDEN INN AND HOMEWOOD SUITES
Alexandria, Virginia, 10 stories, 400 guestrooms
GH2 was selected to design this 400 guestroom hotel in the heart of the Potomac Yard Town Center, a redevelopment of the abandoned brownfield that was once the operational center for the Potomac Yard Railway in Alexandria, VA. GH2 worked in conjunction with Gensler, the overall mixed-use project designer.
The site has magnificent views of Washington DC, including the Capitol building and the Washington Monument. The mixed-use development has residential units, parks, walking trails, restaurants, shopping, offices, other commercial uses, and a proposed new Metro stop within three blocks of the hotel.
The twelve story hotel will be dual-branded, with both a Hilton Garden Inn and a Homewood Suites, and have retail and associated parking. GH2 led the complex and lengthy planning and zoning process for this 500,000 sf building.
