ST. JOHN'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH
Tulsa, Oklahoma
GH2 designed the rehabilitation of and addition to St. John's Episcopal Church. This mid-town Tulsa architectural gem was constructed in the 1950's. A main focus during design was to preserve the historic fabric and character of the facility. The project includes the addition of accessible restroom facilities, the conversion of existing green space to a courtyard, and rehabilitations of the common room, youth room, nursery and classrooms.
The new courtyard will include a paved labyrinth, seating areas and new landscape elements. This outdoor space is designed to work in conjunction with the other interior spaces at the facility to host activities ranging from individual contemplation to receptions, ceremonies, and presentations. The common room will have updated interior lighting, finishes and furniture.
A flexible and exciting new youth room is includes a coffee bar, game area, and media area with stage. The space also includes a chalkboard wall, giving users the opportunity to personalize the space.
