ATLAS LIFE COURTYARD BY MARRIOTT
Tulsa, Oklahoma
GH2 transformed the historic Atlas Life Building, built in 1922, from an office building into a Courtyard by Marriott as part of the continual revitalization of downtown Tulsa. When our client purchased the iconic red brick and limestone building, it did not meet current codes, so in addition to designing all of the hotel elements, we designed all of the code upgrades, including adding a second 12-story interior stair, sprinklers and smoke evacuation.
GH2 assisted the Owner with the Federal Rehabilitation Tax Credit application and review process for the project and helped coordinate the application to place the building on the National Register of Historic Places. The project was recognized with the Best Adaptive Reuse Award 2010 from Marriott International and a Citation of Merit from the Oklahoma Historical Society.
