QUARTZ MOUNTAIN ART INSTITUTE CABINS

Lone Wolf, Oklahoma

GH2 provided conceptual design, planning, and cost estimating services for these proposed cabins at the Quartz Mountain Arts and Conference Center. Designed primarily to house students during the annual Summer Arts Institute, the concept for this project includes multiple, two level cabins located along the cove shoreline. The cabins have eight large guestrooms with flexible bed arrangements and resort quality amenities. Each cabin includes support spaces including a storm shelter, kitchen, laundry, screened porches, indoor and outdoor fireplaces and a large multi-use room. In addition, they provide a variety of spaces for student collaboration, study, rehearsal and related activities. The cabins can also accommodate business and private groups for meetings, family reunions, conferences and related activities at Quartz Mountain.

The design is sensitive to the Quartz Mountain environment and intended to achieve US Green Building Council LEED Certification. Construction will include locally available building materials, high efficiency building systems, and utilize natural light and ventilation to the greatest extent possible.
