OKLAHOMA VETERANS CENTER, TALIHINA DIVISION PROJECTS

GH2 designed several projects at the existing Talihina Veterans Center. The largest project was the renovation of the existing 1920's three-story nursing care facility. GH2 assisted in the preparation of the funding application for the project.

The renovation consisted of major upgrades to all patient rooms to improve the living environment in the facility. Ward rooms were converted into semi-private and private patient rooms and new bathing areas were added to each floor. Staff and nursing support facilities were upgraded with new finishes, building systems and technology support. All finishes, lighting, and signage in the common areas were upgraded as a part of the project.

GH2 also designed an outdoor courtyard for dedicated use by dementia patients. The landscaped courtyard has two covered pavilions with a surround figure-eight wandering path, which returns the patient either back to the central pavilion or to the nursing unit.
