Crosstown Learning Center

Tulsa, Oklahoma

GH2 designed a new 24,000 SF early childhood facility for Crosstown Learning Center, a non-profit organization that provides childcare and education for children ages 6 weeks through 12 years. The new one-story facility is designed to replace an existing center that occupied an older church building on site. The design of the replacement facility complements the scale and character of the surrounding residential neighborhood, increases the on-site parking capacity, and provides a community green space on site.

The floor plan is organized in a simple "cross" pattern with 12 classrooms. Each set of two classrooms shares a support space with toilets, changing stations, hand wash sinks, refrigerators and storage. Outside play areas with trike tracks are accessed directly out of each classroom. Secure vestibules, access control, and clear visibility help to provide a safe environment for students and staff. Skylights throughout the facility bring in natural light. The program for the facility also includes a full kitchen, multi-use community room, administrative offices, parent resource room, staff lounge, and indoor gymnasium/motor skills room.
