Student Wellness Center Concept Design
Tahlequah, Oklahoma
GH2 provided programming, conceptual design, and cost estimating for a 138,000 square foot student wellness center for Northeastern State University. The design concept evolved from several programming and interactive meetings with university staff.
The concept includes a 6,000 square foot aerobics area with fully glazed perimeter walls to invite both light and users into the facility and express the array of activities housed within. A one-eighth mile track on the second floor offers dynamic views toward campus and into the surrounding activity spaces. Additional functional areas include an Olympic size swimming pool, leisure pool, three full size basketball courts, four racquetball courts, a 6,000 square foot weight training room and the aerobics area. The Wellness Center is also supported with a juice bar, 10,000 square foot of locker rooms, and a 2,000 square foot student health center.
